It’s the anniversary of the death of Mahler. I’ve been ferreting out bits about his miserable messy life this week, because of Gropius, but I mustn’t digress to architecture here. Mahler did therapy with Freud, but he was scared so he canceled his appointment THREE TIMES before finally going. Freud’s receptionist must have been very cross. Anyway. Freud only put up with it because Mahler was a bit of a pop star at the time, and I suppose he wanted to know about the Gropius gossip. “Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic and fear which is inherent in a human situation.” Graham Greene, Ways of Escape #escape #therapywriting #stetwalk #mahler #freud #gropius https://www.instagram.com/p/C7GXA1zKB1R/?igsh=MXZiZjJjam9xZ3QxcQ==
